What is Root-Canal-Treatment ?

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that replaces a tooth’s damaged or infected pulp with a filling.

In the situation that a tooth is considered so threatened (because of decay, cracking, etc.) that future infection is considered likely or inevitable, a pulpectomy, removal of the pulp tissue, is advisable to prevent such infection.

Root canal retreatment

Retreatment is necessary when bacteria have re-entered the tooth. This is usually due to decay or untreated canal areas. The patient may experience swelling or pain in chewing.
Sometimes a patient may have no symptoms, but is referred to endodontists by their family dentist because an x-ray shows that there is a problem with a tooth that has previously undergone root canal therapy.
